Details on study design:
An epidemiology study was conducted on 598 male workers exposed to 1,4-dichlorobut-2 ene at the Victoria plant of DuPont Co. in Texas, USA from 1956 through 1983 for cancer incidence, and from 1957 through 1980 for mortality.

Results and discussion

Results:
By comparing the mortality and cancer rates of the DuPont Company with the US national rates, the results did not indicate that employees are at an increased risk of developing cancer.
Strengths and weaknesses:
The validity of this study suffers from its limited statistical power due to the small size of the cohort.
