Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
adsorption / desorption: screening
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance and its relevant degradation products decompose rapidly

Description of key information

The performance of a test for adsorption/desorption screening is scientifically unjustified.
REACh Regulation No. 1907/2006, Annex VIII, Sect. 9.3.1, Col. 2, states as follows:
“9.3.1 The study need not be conducted if:
- based on the physicochemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient), or
- the substance and its relevant degradation products decompose rapidly.”
A determination of the biodegradability of the test item was performed according to OECD 301D, respectively. The test item is evaluated as ready biodegradable. Thus, determination of adsorption of the test item is scientifically unjustified and not required under REACH.

Additional information

A waiver is used to adress the endpoint:

Further supporting QSAR calculations were available. The following logKOC values were determined which were representative for the components of the test item:

Monomer: 1.1279 (KOC=13.42 L/kg)

Dimer: 3.6448 (KOC=4413 L/kg)

MIBK: 1.8453 (KOC=70.03 L/kg)

As worst case the dimer KOC value of 4413 L/kg was chosen for this endpoint.
