Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test item is not flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammability: An experimental study, scored as Klimisch 1, was selected as a key study. It was performed in compliance with GLP according to EC A.10 Method. According to CLP Regulation, flammable properties of solids should be assessed using UN N.1 Method. This method is different from EC A.10 Method in the sense the experimental design assesses whether the presence of a wetted zone can stop the flame. Here, there is no ignition at all during the 2 minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied. Thus, the presence of a wetted zone would have changed nothing and it can be expected that the UN N.1 test would have similarly concluded that terephthalic acid, compound with hexane-1,6-diamine is not flammable.

Flammability in contact with water and pyrophoricity: Based on its chemical structure, terephthalic acid, compound with hexane-1,6-diamine does not present any chemical group associated to such properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

On the basis of the above information, terephthalic acid, compound with hexane-1,6-diamine does not need to be classified for its flammable properties both under CLP and DSD.
