A preliminary thermogravimetric measurement was performed over a temperature range from room temperature to 595°C. A single step is registered with a maximum at 223°C and a mass loss of 99.8 %. After cooling a brown residue at the edge of the crucible bottom was visible.

 

Upon heating the heat flow curves showed a single endothermic peak each (peak maximum: 245.5°C; extrapolated onset temperature: 240.8°C; mean of both determinations) indicating the boiling temperature at ambient pressure. After the measurements the sample had lost 99.5 % of its original mass.

 

Results were converted to normal boiling points using the Sidney-Young equation.

Conclusions:
A boiling point of 242°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a relevant test method and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable.
Executive summary:

The boiling temperature of triethoxy(3-isocyanatopropyl)silane was determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to OECD Test Guideline 103 [adopted on 27 July 1995] and EU test method A.2 "Boiling temperature", Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.The result (converted to 1013 hPa) was 242°C.

Two reliable measured boiling point results are available for the registered substance. In Enste-Diefenbach 2013, a boiling point value of 242°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) in accordance with the OECD Test Guideline 103 and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as the key study.

In another reliable study (Ahrens 2013) conducted in accordance with OECD Test Guideline 103 but not in compliance with a known quality system, a boiling point of 240.5°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a DSC method. The supporting study is in agreement with the key study.

In available secondary sources to which no reliability could be assigned, a boiling point of 238°C at 1013 hPa was reported for the substance.
