Identification of relevant dose descriptor

Two subchronic studies are available in both rats and dogs. Both studies are equally relevant and acceptable for DNEL derivation. However, using the dog study as point of departure, slightly higher DNEL values are achieved compared to the rat study; therefore, as an additional conservative measure, the rat study was used a point of departure. The NOEL derived in this study was 20000 ppm, corresponding to 1687 mg/kg body weight. This value was used for DNEL calculations.

Identification of relevant dose descriptor

The dose descriptor chosen is the same as for workers (see above). The NOAEL of 1687 mg/kg observed in the 90-day repeated dose study in rats was used as starting point to derive the DNELs.
