Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection

equipment). In the case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately. Move out of dangerous area.

If inhaled : If breathed in, move person into fresh air.

In case of skin contact : Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.

In case of eye contact : Rinse the affected eye with plenty of water, at the same time keep the unaffected eye well protected.

If swallowed : If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Standard procedure for chemical fires.

Suitable extinguishing media : alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, water spray jet, carbon dioxide.

The dried substance may form extremely combustible dust. If the substance for any reasons is dried, dust formation has to be avoided.

Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions:

Carbon oxides

Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases. In the event of fire, wear self-contained

breathing apparatus.

Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water.

Use mechanical handling equipment. Avoid raising dust. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing

environmental regulations. When picked up, treat material as prescribed under heading "Disposal".

Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:

Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary). Avoid the formation and deposition of dust.

Provide exhaust ventilation if dust is formed.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Observe standards and measures of industrial preventive fire protection. The danger of a dust explosion should be kept in mind, especially if the substance is dried for any reasons. Keep away from sources of ignition - refrain from smoking. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charges - earthing necessary during loading operations.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Do not store together with foodstuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection

We are not aware of any national exposure limit.

Engineering measures : Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. Product should be worked up in closed equipment as far as

possible.

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection : No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required.

Hand protection: Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance

and specific to place of work. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374derived from it. Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace

conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact).

Suitable: Butyl rubber gloves. Nitril rubber gloves.

With solid substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical

breakthrough. Gloves must be rinsed thoroughly after use.

Skin and body protection : Choose body protection in relation to its type, to the concentration and amount of dangerous substances, and to

the specific work-place, e.g. apron, boots, protective suit (EN 14605, EN ISO 13982-1, EN 13034).

Protective measures : Do not breathe vapours, aerosols or mists. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Hygiene measures : Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again. Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt). Keep away from food and drink. Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work. Follow the skin protection plan.

Stability and reactivity

Maximum storage temperature: if vented 100°C (for 24 h max.)

Dust is very combustible.

Reactivity : No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

Chemical stability : Decomposes thermally.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: When handled and stored appropriately no dangerous reactions are known.

Conditions to avoid : Protect from frost, heat and sunlight. Do not raise dust.

Incompatible materials : Strong acids and strong bases.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues : Special waste incineration plant, after consultation with operators. Observe local authority regulations.

Contaminated packaging : Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste.
