The test material is designed to be used as a dye for diverse textile fabrics. To ensure high performance and quality of the treated fabric, those classes of chemical substances are designed to be not biodegradable by microorganisms. Nevertheless, a study was performed to determine the ready biodegradability of FAT 46014/G in a 14 days MITI Test according to the OECD test guideline 301C and the EEC-Directive, 79/831, Annex V, C.7. and in accordance to GLP. The test substance tested at a concentration of 100 mg/l showed 0% biodegradation at the end of 14 days. Considering the results, FAT 46014/G is not readily biodegradable.

Several other supporting studies showed the following results:

CSB/COD is 735 mg/g O2

COD is 1145 mg O2/g test mat.

COD is 1040 -1250 mg O2/g test mat.

BSB5/BOD is 190 mg/g O2

One of the supporting studies which was carried according to regulation DEV DIN 38409 - H 41-1 (1980) corresponding to 92/96/EEC C.6 and GLP, showed a range of COD from 1040-1250 mg O2/g.

Relevant is the BOD5/COD quotient which is not > 0.5 , therefore the substance is not indicative of rapid degradation.

Taking into consideration the data from key study and supporting studies, the test substance FAT 46014 is considered to be not biodegradable.
