Description of key information

Not relevant due to low vapour pressure.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No studies investigating the indirect photolysis of Fatty acids, C8-10, octyl esters (CAS 91031-98-0) are available. Using AOP Program (v1.92), half-lives of 18 -20 hours was calculated for the main components octyl octanoate and decyl octanoate, indicating fast degradation by indirect photolysis. However, this is not expected to be a relevant environmental fate process, since Fatty acids, C8-10, octyl esters is not expected to be present in the atmosphere based on its low vapour pressure. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACH and there is no indication from the CSA on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance, no further testing is considered necessary.
