Description of key information

FAT 20077 is designed to be used as a dye for diverse textile fabrics. To ensure high performance and quality of the treated fabric, those classes of chemical substances are designed to be not biodegradable by microorganisms. Nevertheless,FAT 20077/A and FAT 20077/B were tested for the biological oxygen demand (BOD5) and chemical oxygen demand (COD). For FAT 20077/B, the BOD5 and COD were determined to be 0 mg O2/g and 1102 mg/g O2, respectively. For FAT 20077/A, BOD5 and COD were determined to be 42 mg O2/g and 1116 mg/g O2, respectively.

Based on these values, the BOD5/COD ratio was <0.5, therefore the substance is not considered to be rapidly biodegradable.
