Description of key information

The toxicity of the test item to the freshwater green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined in a test according to OECD guideline 201. The test revealed an EC50 value of 44.8 mg/L, an EC10 value of 29.8 mg/L and a NOEC of 20.6 mg/L. The values are based on the growth rate.

Additional information

The toxicity of the test item to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to the principles of OECD 201 and Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008/Method C.3 from 2015-03-24 to 2015-03-27. The aim of the study was the determination of NOEC, LOEC, EC10- , EC20- and EC50-values of growth rate and yield over a period of 72 hours. The study was conducted under static conditions with an initial cell density of 6153 cells/mL. Five concentrations were tested in a geometrical series with a dilution factor of 2 (nominal): 6.25 - 12.5 - 25.0 - 50.0 - 100 mg/L corresponding to geometric mean measured test item concentrations of 5.00 - 10.2 - 20.6 - 39.1 - 80.3 mg/L. The following geometric mean measured results based on growth rate were determined: NOEC = 20.6 mg/L, EC10 = 29.8 mg/L, EC50 = 44.8 mg/L.
