Description of key information

The substance is flammable. The substance is neither pyrophoric nor emits flammable gases in contact with water. It shows no self-reactive or self-heating behaviour. Furthermore, it is no organic peroxide.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the flammability study does not need to be conducted as the flammability is deduced from flash point and boiling point.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the pyrophoric properties study does not need to be conducted as based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties are not to be expected.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the water reactivity study does not need to be conducted as based on chemical structure water reactivity is not to be expected.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the UN test series A to H for self-reactive substances and mixtures does not need to be conducted as the heat of decomposition is greater than 300 J/g, but the onset temperature is greater than 200 °C.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the UN test N 4 for self-heating substances and mixtures does not need to be conducted as the substance is a liquid.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the UN test series A to H for organic peroxides does not need to be conducted as by definition based on their chemical structure the substance is no organic peroxide.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria laid down in regulation EC/1272/2008 the substance is classifed as "flammable liquid and vapour" (H226). The flash point is determined to 59.5 °C and meets the criteria of a flash point > 23 °C but < 60 °C. Since the determined flash point is out of the classification range of directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) the substance does not need to be classifed as flammable in the sense of the directive.
