Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM D2887
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Simulated distillation by GC is used to determine the
boiling point range of sample. Column
heating causes the sequential elution of sample
components based on their boiling point. A calibration
curve is constructed that relates carbon number and
boiling point to retention time and allows for the
determination of boiling points for the components in an
unknown test sample.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
distillation method

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Initial Boiling point = 253 C at 1 atm
Final Boiliing point = 303.5 C at 1 atm
Executive summary:

Boiling point was measured using ASTM D2887, a simulated distillation protocol. Initial boiling point was 253C; Final boiling point was 303.5 C (both measured at 1 atm).
