The study allowed the authors to set an EC20 (72h): 0.007 mg/L that proved that the tested substance is toxic to mussels.

Description of key information

The result of one study in mussels (publication) has determined a EC20 (72h) of 0.007 mg/L, showing that BAB is toxic to this specie.

Other studies in similar subtances showed that there was no toxicity to daphnia for LAB (LC50 > water solubility in all assays) according to ECB (1997) and OECD (2002) dossiers, when excluding tests using a carrier solvent. Testing with use of solvents/dispersants is not environmentally relevant.

EPIsuite’s ECOSAR indicates that for neutral organics, if the log Kow is greater than 5.0, no acute effects in daphnia and mysid are predicted at saturation (due to the low water solubility). This is the case for BAB and all its components.
