Description of key information

Adsorption: Due to its lipophilicity, the BAB partitions from water to adsorb to organic matter (e.g., soil and sediment) as evidenced by its log Koc of 4.88 .

Volatilization: C12-BAB’s (main component) half-life of volatilization from water was estimated by QSAR to be 1.6 h and 6 days in river and lake (resp.), in presence of wind. These rates stay moderate so atmospheric transport over long distances is unlikely.

Distribution modeling: C12-BAB (main component) was estimated by QSAR to partition mainly to sediment (56%) and water (42%), with negligible amounts in air and soil. Direct emissions to air and water were considered, but not to soil as there is no use as a pesticide. The experimental Koc was entered. The fraction in water is either as an emulsion or as a phase (not miscible).
