Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The physical state of ZnO is solid powder, its colour is white, it is odourless.

Desciption valid for both standard and nano forms.

The crystal structure of all of the ZnO nanomaterials included in the dossier is the same (wurtzite/hexagonal), the particle shapes are roughly similar.

The shapes of the particle as well as the morphology of the NM 110, NM 111 and NM 113 were comparable. The three NM were described as polyhedral with variable morphology and size. The NM 112 was determined to be distinctly different to all the other samples. NM 112 was described to appears as near spherical and with the smallest particle size compared to the other three materials.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
