No experimental result for Fatty acids, C16-18, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 85116-93-4) is available. Toxic effects to soil organisms are assumed to be low due to the readily biodegradability and the chemical properties of the test substance Fatty acids, C16-18, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 85116-93-4). According to column 2 of EC 1907/2006 Annex IX and X testing on toxicity to soil organisms (macroorganisms, arthropods, plants, microorganisms) need not to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. As the test substance is “readily biodegradable” an indirect exposure via deposition of activated sludge to soil can be ruled out. Furthermore a disposal to the gaseous phase followed by a deposition from the atmosphere to soil is implausible due to the very low vapour pressure of 3.51xE-035Even an exposure via irrigation can be ruled out due to the low water solubility of the test substance (< 1 mg/L). A direct exposure to the soil compartment can be precluded because no direct application to soil is reported. Furthermore, study results show that Fatty acids, C16-18, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 85116-93-4) have no toxic effects to mammals and aquatic organisms as well. Hence, toxicity testing of terrestrial organisms is not necessary.
