Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The particle size distribution of two different samples (called Kalksteinlinsen and DS Sand) of the substance was determined.
The median diameter of dried Kalksteinlinsen (100 g heated during 4h at 50°C) is 1.8 mm ± 0.05. The fraction of dried Kalksteinlinsen with a particle size lower than 45 µm is between 1.4 and 2.95 %.
To determine the particle size of DS Sand a laser diffraction particle size analysis was performed according to an internal method. Based on 3 measurements the mean D10, D50 and D90 were 31, 570 and 1400 micrometer. Large particles (> 1180), which accounted for 9.1 % of the dried weight, were excluded from the laser diffraction particle size analysis.
The results of Kalksteinlinsen were considered to be the most representative (key study) for exposure assessment because this product is also used in a dried form (medium dustiness).
