In the screening test according to Grewer with the pure test substance an exothermal effect starting at 270°C was observed. A multi-step reaction led to a maximum product temperature of 560°C.

In the screening test with the kieselgur mixture (1:1) an exothermal effect starting at 270°C was observed. A multi-step reaction led to a maximum product temperature of 540°C.

Conclusions:
The test item has not to be classified as self-heating substance according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, Annex I, 2.11.4

Given standard deviation is based on the general experience with the method and pigments. The estimated values are typical standard deviations for pigments:

D10: 4 % of D10 (minimum value 0.05 µm)

D50: 13 % of D50 (minimum value 0.1 µm)

D90: 29 % of D90 - D50

the test material was sieved prior to measurement (mesh size 2000 µm). About 21 % (w/w) coarse grain remained on the sieve. All values above relate to the sieved material.

D50 of unsieved test material is about 9 µm.

No propagation of combustion was recorded during the measurement at room temperature and the combustion behaviour was assessed burning index BZ 3 (localized combustion or glowing with practically no spreading)

Due to the fact that propagation of the combustion was not observed the burning rate did not need to be determined.

Independent fire spread was observed after an ignition source (flame or hot wire, 2 min) was applied at 100°C.

The combustion behaviour of the product at ambient temperature is characterized by the burning index BZ 5 (burning with flame or spark generation)
