Additional information

There are two reliable values for the vapour pressure of the substance. A measured vapour pressure of 4.4 Pa at 25°C was obtained for the submission substance using the dynamic method in accordance with OECD 104 test guideline and in compliance with GLP. Also, a predicted vapour pressure of 10 Pa at 25°C was obtained for the substance using a validated QSAR estimation method. The predicted value was selected as key study because the measured data were made at significantly elevated temperature (120-164°C) and so the uncertainty on the extrapolated vapour pressure to ambient temperature is relatively high. Similarly, a value of 22 Pa was available on the ECHA website.

In contact with water, the substance hydrolyses very rapidly to form tris(1-methylethyl)silanol and acrylic acid. The silanol hydrolysis product; tris(1-methylethyl)silanol has a predicted vapour pressure of 4 Pa at 25°C using a validated QSAR estimation method.

Vapour pressure of 380 Pa at 20°C was reported for acrylic acid (ECB 2002).
