Description of key information

Under anaerobic conditions 98% of propylene glycol was biodegraded in natural soil after 105 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A non-GLP compliant biodegradation study in soil is available for monopropylene glycol. Results of this study demonstrate that high concentrations of monopropylene glycol released into a soil environment can be expected to biodegrade under anaerobic conditions (98% after 105 days) (The Dow Chemical Company, 1986).
