A log Kow value of >6.5 has been calculated in a reliable study, from the individual solubilities in n-octanol and in water. The solubility in water was taken from the key water solubility study (KEY Water solubility 4.8.626; Limacher 2009). The solubility in octanol was measured in the supporting partition coefficient study (Partition coefficient 4.7.035 Tognucci 2001). In this study a log Kow of >6.1 was calculated based on a water solubility of <0.25 mg/l. The more recent study is chosen as key study because the analytical method used to determine the water solubility was more sensitive.

In contact with water, the substance hydrolyse at a moderate rate to form (2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)silanetriol and ethanol.

A log Kow value of 0.9 was obtained for the hydrolysis product of the submission substance, (2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)silanetriol, using an appropriate QSAR calculation method.
