Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The risk characterisation shows that the PEC/PNEC ratio for soil is clearly < 1, indicating no need for further information and testing. Dipropylene glycol methyl ether acetate is highly water soluble (183 g/L) and has a very low potential for adsorption to organic matter (Koc=186 L/kg). Therefore, the predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) for soil was derived from the PNEC for freshwater using the equilibrium partitioning method. This method is applicable for substances where the toxicity in soils relates to the freely dissolved concentration in pore water. The distribution modelling (Mackay level III fugacity modeling) indicates that when dipropylene glycol methyl ether acetate is released to air, the substance will react with hydroxyl radicals. If released directly to water, most of the substance will remain in the water compartment and is expected to be biodegraded. If released to soil, the substance is expected to be biodegraded. Hence testing of effects on birds organisms can be waived for dipropylene glycol methyl ether acetate.
