Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

At present, recognised and validated animal models for the testing of respiratory sensitization are not available. The molecular structure of DME provides no indication for such a concern. Repeated inhalation studies in animals, as well as experience in humans, have not provided any indication of possible respiratory sensitization by DME.

Justification for classification or non-classification

There is no evidence of respiratory sensitization during inhalation exposures. The substance does not need to be classified for skin or respiratory sensitization according the EU Directive 67/548/EEC and EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
