Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Basic data given in peer reviewed journal (also assessed by OECD)
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Excess TPP was agitated in purified water for 48 h, allowed to stand in the dark for 1 week to permit phase seperation. The water phase was centrifuged and extracted with dichloromethane. Analysis was with GC/FID
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Commercial grade TPP
Water solubility:
1.9 mg/L
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH not reported
Details on results:
Purified water used- exact pH not given

Purified water used- exact pH not given

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results: slightly soluble (0.1-100 mg/L)
TPP can be considered as slighlty soluble in water
Executive summary:
In a well documented study the water solubility of TPP has been determined as 1.9 mg/L

Description of key information

The water solubility has been determined as 1.9 mg/L by Saeger et al.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1.9 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Various studies have been carried out to determine the water solubility of TPP. All studies indicate that TPP can be considered as slighly soluble in water. The three best documented studies give a water solubility of 1.9 - 2.1 mg/L at ambient temperatures.
