Description of key information

Experimental data on one representative of the category (C20) shows no toxicity to microorganisms up to the limit of solubility. These results were cross-read to 2-decyltetradecanol.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data on toxicity on microorganisms are available for 2-decyltetradecanol but for the structurally related 2-octyldodecan-1-ol. Feibig (2009) reported reliable (Klimisch 2) results for a GLP compliant OECD 209 test with activated sludge using the structurally related 2-octyldodean-1-ol. 2-Octyldodecan-1-ol is not toxic at concentrations up to 1000 mg/l to activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant, based on growth inhibition. Due to the structural similarity 2-decyltetradecanol is also considered to be not toxic to microorganisms as in activated sludge.
