Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Cashmeran is officially a solid, because the melting point at atmospheric pressure is higher than 20 °C. However, it is handled, dosed, and transferred predominantly in liquid form. Therefore, the key value to be used for this endpoint for the CSA will be set to "liquid".

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
liquid

Additional information

Within IFF, the substance Cashmeran is manufactured and used in two forms:

- Cashmeran 'FF', for which the purity of the main constituent exceeds 98%, is a white crystalline solid at room temperature and is handled, dosed and transferred as such. Its melting point at atmospheric pressure is 39°C.

- ‘Normal’ Cashmeran, which is used in higher volumes than the 'FF' and has a lower purity, is stored at elevated temperatures (50-60°C) as a colourless to pale yellow liquid and is handled, dosed and transferred exclusively as such. When left alone at room temperature or below, it slowly solidifies into a white compact solid. Its melting point at atmospheric pressure is 27°C.
