Description of key information

Calcium/Magnesium silicates are ubiquitous in rocks, soils and sediments, they are stable over geological time and the fibres we discuss here are chemically identical, albeit of different morphology. The material is inorganic, inert and stable; it is recycled back into the manufacturing process where possible or disposed to landfill. Measures are in place to prevent accidental release to the environment.

The substance is a dense material which settles rapidly from both air and liquids, distribution is only local within manufacturing and use facilities.

As the substance discussed is composed of dense inorganic particles which are highly insoluble, standard environmental fate testing is not justified and/or not technically possible.
