Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The biodegradation of Epoxy half acrylate was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 B (Ready Biodegradability: CO2 Evolution Test) and EU method C.4 C over a period of 28 days using domestic activated sludge as inoculum. The biodegradation rate was determined by measurement of CO2 evolution.

Inoculum blank, toxicity control and procedural/functional control with the reference substance aniline were performed. The test was performed with 28.5 mg/L test substance concentration.

The functional control reached the pass level >60% after 14 d.

If degradation in the toxicity flask is below 25% after 14 days, the test item can be considered as toxic towards the inoculum. As degradation in the toxicity flask was 40% after 14 days, the test item can be stated as not toxic towards the inoculum in a concentration of 27.1 mg/L.

The test flasks showed very good correlation. Only 3 % degradation could be observed, which lies within the measurement uncertainty. The test item is considered as "not biodegradable". No abiotic degradation was observed, either.
