Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data on the biodegradation in soil are available. Further biotic degradation testing shall be proposed if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance and its degradation products. In an OECD guideline study it was demonstrated that the test substance is poorly biodegradable. However, N-vinylformamide shows very low adsorptive (log Koc < 1.25) as well as bioaccumulative properties (log Pow = -0.11). Furthermore, the different ecotoxicological studies showed no acute toxicity of N-vinylformamide (EC and LC50 values above 100 mg/L). Based on these results N-vinylformamide can be evaluated to be not harmful in the environment; thus, the persistence of the test substance seems to be acceptable. Therefore, simulation studies on soils are not provided.
