Description of key information

The study performed to determine the toxicity of the substance to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria was a static study on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata with 72 hour exposure according to OECD 201 and the Commission Regulation (EC) no 440/2008, C3. The study was testing the substance at the nominal exposed concentrations of 3.2, 3.3, 5.5, 33 and 34 mg/l.

Additional information

The study was testing the toxicity to aquatic algae on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata under GLP conditions and according to OECD Guideline 201 " Fresh Water Algal Growth Inhibition Test" and was also meeting the test methods and validity criteria of the ISO International Standard 8692, 2004, the Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Part C.3, 2008 and the OECD guidance document number 23, 2000.

Under the conditions of the present study with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, p-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-N,N-bis(2,3-epoxypropyl)aniline reduced growth rate of this fresh water algae species significantly at an average exposure concentration of 26 mg/l. The EC50 for growth rate reduction (ERC50: 0-72h) was 13 mg/l with a 95% confidence interval ranging from 8.3 to 19 mg/l. The EC50 for yield inhibition (EYC50: 0-72h) was 7.0 mg/l with a 95% confidence interval ranging from 5.3 to 9.3 mg/l. The NOEC for growth rate reduction was 4.2 mg/l, while the NOEC for yield inhibition could only be estimated to be < 2.5 mg/l.
