Additional information

An IUPAC-NIST literature review of solubility data evaluated the available literature and gave best estimate values, which are taken over as the key parameter. An additional source was also found (Schmitz 1950), which was in agreement with the data referenced in the IUPAC-NIST survey.

Information regarding water solubility of IPC in addition was sourced from two separate handbooks. Merck Index: An Encyclopedia of Chemicals, Drugs, and Biologicals (14th Ed.) and CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (81st Ed.), which are known to contain peer-reviewed data of Klimisch-2 reliability both report that substance is “slightly soluble in water”. In addition, CRC reports that the test substance has an aqueous solubility of 0.342 mass % at 12ºC, while no numerical value for concentration or information on solution temperature was reported by Merck index.

The available information is considered to be adaquate for the purposes of classification and labelling, and risk assessment, according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.2, based on the weight-of-evidence.
