Additional information

An OECD 203 acute fish toxicity test was conducted for sodium isobutyrate solution. The test duration was 96 hours under semi-static conditions, with renewal of the test media every 24 hours. Test organisms were zebra fish (Danio rerio). The test was conducted with a single test concentration of 100 mg/L, as previously conducted test with algae and Daphnia magna had endpoint values above 100 mg/L.

The test was performed using 7 litre glass vessels filled with 5 litres of test solution and seven fish per group. The temperature during the test was 22 ±1oC and was performed under normal laboratory illumination with a light:dark cycle of 16:8 hours. At test initiation, test renewal, and test termination the temperature, pH and oxygen were measured.

No mortalities or visible abnormalities were observed on any individuals in test concentrations of 100 mg/L test substance. The NOEC was therefore determined to be 100 mg/L and the LC50 was determined to be >100 mg/L.
