First-aid measures

General information:

In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice immediately.

After contact with the eyes:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes and seek medical advice. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye surface and eyelids with water.

After contact with the skin:

Immediately rinse with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated clothes at once. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance. In serious cases, use emergency shower immediately.

After inhalation:

Move to fresh air, keep the victim laying down and restful. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.

After swallowing:

Do not induce vomiting. Danger of aspiration. Seek medical advice immediately and produce the label or packaging.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

water spray, extinguishing powder, foam, carbon dioxide.

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:

water jet, plenty of water .

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Hazardous combustion products:

hydrogen chloride .

Special protective equipment for fire fighting:

Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency proceduress:

Wear personal protection equipment. Task force: Use tightly fitting chemical protection suit). Take persons to a safe place. Keep unprotected persons away. Avoid inhaling mists and vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Observe wind direction.

Environmental precautions:

Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Dispose of in prescribed marked containers. Prevent material from entering

sewers or surface waters.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Do not flush away with water. Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose of according to local/state/federal

regulations. For small amounts: Cover with calcium oxide. Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers.

Observe disposal guidelines.

Further information:

Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Handling and storage

General information:

Avoid exposure by technical measures or personal protective equipment.

Handling:

Precautions for safe handling:

Ensure adequate ventilation. Must be syphoned off in situ. Open and handle container with care.

Precautions against fire and explosion:

Cool endangered containers with water. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels,

including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Keep away from open flames, heat and sparks.

Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging.

Storage:

Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:

Unsuitable material for storage containers, casks and pipelines: light metals and their alloys , iron , steel , zinc . Store under protective gas. Test the suitability of materials for storage vessels, containers and piping.

Advice for storage of incompatible materials:

Observe national regulations. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Further information for storage:

Keep container tightly closed and store in a cool, well ventilated place.

Exposure in the work place limited and controlled

General protection and hygiene measures:

Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately. Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Wash hands at the end of work and before eating. Keep away from foodstuff, drink and feedingstuff. Keep working clothes separately. Provide emergency shower and eye-bath.

Personal protection equipment:

Respiratory protection

Respiratory protection required. gas mask filter ABEK P2 . In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus .

Hand protection:

Protective gloves generally only suitable as splash protection. Protective gloves made of butyl rubber (0,7 mm) . Due to the substance‘s properties, contaminated gloves must be immediately decontaminated and changed. The permeation time is reduced by mechanical and thermal stresses above 20°C. The selection of appropriate gloves not only depends on the material, but also on other quality characteristics, and may vary depending on the manufacturer. Please observe information from your glove supplier in terms of permeability and breakthrough time.

Eye protection:

tight fitting protective goggles.

full protective suit. Immediately decontaminate and change contaminated protective clothing.

Exposure to the environment limited and controlled:

Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. If large amounts are introduced into sewerage inform responsible

authorities immediately.

Further information for system design and engineering measures

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity; Chemical stability; Possibility of hazardous reactions

If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known.

Conditions to avoid:

none known.

Materials to avoid:

Reacts violently with basic substances. Reaction causes the formation of heat.

Hazardous decomposition products:

If stored and handled properly: none known.

Disposal considerations

Material:

Recommendation:

Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Uncleaned packaging:

Recommendation:

Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.

Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.

Waste Disposal Legislation Ref.No.(EC):

It is not possible to determine a waste code for this product in accordance with the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) since it is only possible to

classify it according to how it is used by the customer. The waste code is to be determined within the EU in liaison with the wastedisposal operator.
