The measurement of n-octanol/water partition coefficient for dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane (D6) is complicated by the difficulty in sample handling and a very low water solubility. A log Kow of 8.87 has been determined in a reliable study designed to overcome these difficulties and this is selected as key study. It is close to the value of 9.06 obtained from estimates using four different methods. Two earlier measurements of the log Kow of 5.86 and 4.36 are available. These are disregarded as the methodologies were considered not appropriate for the substance.
