According to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 Annex XI, Section 9.2.1, Column 2, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. Diethanolamine (CAS 111-42-2) is readily biodegradable as demonstrated in a GLP study according to OECD 301 F (BASF AG, 1992; report no. 1/91/1168/26/2).
