Description of key information

The Koc was found 22000 L/kg. Based on calculated method the distribution results were 1.08% to air, 10.4% to water, 55.1% to soil, and 33.4% to sediment.

Additional information

The substance is extremely insoluble in water and will largely partition to soils and sediments. The adsorption/desorption coefficient for the substance was determined to be 22,000 using a radiolabelled sample of the substance was mixed with four different soil types for 24 hrs. It should be noted that when using the EPISuite model version 4.0 and entering the CAS number 123-01-3, the corresponding structure has the benzene ring on the terminal carbon which is inconsistent with the actual structure as defined in section 1 of the CSR (the benzene ring is located on any carbon besides the terminal carbon.) As a result, the CAS number input is not valid when using EPI Suite and the structure was input manually with the benzene ring being located on the third carbon. The substance was predicted to distribute in the general environment in the following patter: Air: 1.2%; Water: 10.9%; Soil: 53.1%; Sediment: 34.8%.
