Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The information on aquatic toxicity which is currently available only comprised acute toxicity study results. Information on acute toxicity is available for fish, invertebrates and algae. The results from these different tests (and different species) indicate that there is overall sufficient data available indicative of the lack of acute toxicity towards the aquatic environment.

All available test results are prone to certain restrictions. The most prominent ones being (1) the lack of actually measured test concentrations and (2) most test concentrations tested were above water solubility.

The main conclusions on the different trophic levels were:

  • For fish (2 available studies): No toxicity was shown up to 78 mg/L test substance (nominal concentration, based on measured DOC levels) . Both tests are limit tests, consequently no clear dose response curve could be established.
  • For invertebrates (3 available studies): Two tests report the acute toxicity towards the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna and one describes the toxicity towards the saltwater invertebrate Mysidopsis bahia. All three tests have certain restrictions. Nevertheless they provide sufficient information to assess the lack of acute toxicity. The lowest EC50 (immobility, 48hr) was established at 38.7 mg/L in Daphnia magna.
  • For algae (1 available study): An EC50 value based on growth rate (72h) was reported to be above 55 mg/L (nominal concentrations based on TOC content), the NOEC (cell number, 72h) was equal to 27 mg/L.
Additionally, due to fact that the substance is readily biodegradable and the Log Kow of the substance is rather high (measured value of 6.1) (indicative of the fact that the water compartment will not be the most important compartment), it can be expected that surface water concentrations will remain low.
