Description of key information

According to old, published literature, the boiling point of the test material is 125 °C. However, the boiling point referred to in the literature may not be appropriate for this type of hydrated inorganic salt. Upon heating, the nonahydrate will initially release water promoting the iron trinitrate to dissolve in its own hydrate water at 47 ⁰C. Further heating will then promote the release of water vapour. It is this loss of water vapour which is referred to in the literature and not the boiling point of iron trinitrate.
