Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products will contain carbon oxides. Suitable
extinguishing agents are dry chemical, carbon dioxide and
foam.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain spillage. Cover with large quantities of sand, earth
or other suitable absorbent (brush in vigorously to assist
absorption). Collect using a rubber shovel and place in
drums or plastic bags for disposal by incineration. Prevent
the substance from flowing into ground or surface waters.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid breathing vapour. Avoid skin and eye contact. Take
care to avoid explosive vapour/air mixture. Equipment should
be earthed for transfer operations. Non-sparking equipment
should be used.

Storage: Store according to regulations for combustible solvents. Use
properly designed and approved containers. Empty tank space
should be filled with inert gas to avoid the formation of
explosive vapour/air mixtures. Use spark-resistant tools.
Designate handling and storage sites as no-smoking areas.
