Description of key information

The calculated freshwater fish (Pimephales promelas) 96-hour LC50 for 1,3-butadiene is 45 mg/l

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two QSAR models have been used to give an indication of the toxicity of 1,3-butadiene to fish. The calculated 96 hour LC50 values are 45mg/l from the equation recommended in the TGD (Verhaar et al, 1995) and 43mg/l from ECOSAR (Nabholz and Mayo-Bean, 2009). Values calculated from the TGD recommended equation will be used for consistency with the EU RAR for buta-1,3 -diene.
