Description of key information
Based on the chemical nature of synthetic amorphous silica (SAS) (i.e. inorganic chemical, high stability of the Si-O-Si bonds), it is not scientifically founded to determine the fate and route of biodegradation in the different environmental compartments.
Additional information
Biodegradation is not applicable due to the chemical nature (inorganic substance), cf. REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Annex VII, 9.2.
