Description of key information
No data were identified for the acute toxicity of Mg metal to microorganisms. A GLP conform activated sludge respiration inhibition study according to OECD guideline 209 is available for MgCl2.6H2O (Dengler, 2010). The data show no effect of MgCl2.6H2O on the respiration activity up to the highest dose tested of 900 mg MgCl2.6H2O/L, resulting in an unbounded EC10 of ≥900 mg MgCl2.6H2O/L, which corresponds to ≥108 mg Mg/L (added dose).
