Description of key information

Magnesium starts melting at 650°C at atmospheric pressure.

Additional information

According to reliable handbook data (e.g. CRC handbook) the the melting point of magnesium is 650 °C at atmospheric pressure. Handbook data considered to be from a trusted source acc. to "ECHA, Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment – Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance" and therefore, the decomposition temperature could be regarded as valid.
