Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Water solubility (whole substance): 7.35 x 10-2 g/l 20 °C, pH 4.6 - 5.5 (OECD 105).
Water solubility (individual constituents of the substance): 1.1E-04 - 1.3E+01 mg/l (QSAR)
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 0.073 g/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
Water solubility has been determined in a GLP study for the registered substance using a method in accordance to OECD 105. CTO has a water solubility of 7.35x 10-2g/l 20 °C, pH 4.6 - 5.5. In another study, a water solubility of 9 mg/l, (20 °C, pH 2) in its entirety as a complex substance using the same method stated above is obtained for the test substance. CTO is found to be slightly soluble in water.
CTO is a UVCB substance with about 80 constituents including fatty acids, resin acids, neutrals such as alcohols and high molecular weight polymeric compounds,. For environmental risk assessment, the properties of the substance are assessed using the 'block approach'. The water solubility of each 'block' has been determined based on the weighted average of each constituent in the block. Predicted water solubility of 1.1E-04 - 1.3E+01 mg/l and 1.2E-03 - 5.7E+00 mg/l were determined for constituents and all 'blocks' in CTO respectively.
