Description of key information

The substance is completely water soluble stable inorganic UVCB. Green liquor is a UVCB mixture of water soluble inorganic constituents, hydroxides, carbonates, sulfides, sulphites, sulphates and their soluble alkaline metal salts. Standard hydrolysis test is not suitable for measure volatile gaseous compounds. At acidic pH (pH 4)  green liquor is known to evolve gaseous hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide (from carbonates).

The behavior of all known constituents can be evaluated by other means than testing, since the basic physical chemical information is already available.

Sulfides oxidise rapidly is surface waters if free molecular oxygen is available. Oxidation products are primarily sulphites and sulphates.
