Additional information

The study selected as key by Geiger et al. (1987) uses a flow-through system with analytical monitoring, a standard test species (Pimephales promelas) and standard exposure duration (96 hours). The method used in this paper is equivalent to OECD 203. The only minor deviation is that behavioural data was not recorded. We do not consider that this deviation significantly alters the validity of this study. A flow-through system with analytical monitoring was used and all validity criteria of OECD 203 were met. This study was chosen in preference to other studies identified as it was used as the key study in the EU RAR (2004) for cyclohexane, it was the only study using a flow-through system and reported the most conservative value for fish.
