The toxicity of the substance to microorganisms was investigated in an industrial activated sludge respiration inhibition study (BASF, 1979). In this study activated industrial sludge was exposed to nominal test substance concentrations of 1.5, 300, 1995 mg/L for 30 min. Test concentrations were not analytically verified. The effects on microorganisms was determined by measuring total respiration rates and comparing these to an unexposed control. The test substance effected an increased respiration rate. No further documentation on the findings is available. The 30-min EC10 value was determined to be > 1995 mg/L.

As supporting data, a publication is available that investigated the toxicity of the test substance in bacteria (Pseudomonas putida) (Bringmann et al. 1977) in a cell growth inhibition test. The toxic threshold concentration (which is comparable to the EC5) after 16 hours was 320 mg/L (nominal).
