Description of key information

The study that examines oxidising properties (required in REACH Regulation 1907/2006/EC Annex VII section 7.13), can be omitted in the case of the substance 1,2-dichloroethane as the substance does not contain functional groups that belong to the class of compounds that reveal oxidising properties (refer to “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R7a).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the structure of the molecule and taking into account the provisions laid down in Council Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP, 1,2-dichloroethane does not have to be classified with respect to oxidising properties.
