Description of key information

Adsorption/desorption: Low potential for adsorption. Log Koc for silanol hydrolysis product = 0.8 (predicted).

Additional information

The substance hydrolyses very rapidly to a silanol hydrolysis product which has a low log Kow value (<3) and thus has low potential for adsorption, and the requirement for testing is waived. The other hydrolysis product is hydrogen chloride. Hydrogen chloride is an inorganic substance which enters natural biogeochemical cycles; adsorption/desorption studies are not relevant.

For environmental exposure assessment, adsorption is predicted using the EU TGD (Technical Guidance Document) ‘non-hydrophobics’ log Kow prediction method (EC, 2003),also referred to in REACH Guidance R7a (ECHA, 2008).
