Description of key information

Readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Cyclohexanone was tested for readily biodegradation in an OECD 301F test (Manometric respirometry test), where cyclohexanone was degraded >90% within 28 days (BASF AG 1998). Municipal activated sludge from a laboratory wastewater treatment plant was used as inoculum. The OECD criteria for ready biodegradability (> 60 % BOD of ThOD, 10 -day window) were fulfilled. Therefore, cyclohexanone is readily biodegradable. This result is underlined by another test on the readily biodegradability of cyclohexanone (OECD 301C, MITI 1) with degradation rates of 87 % within 14 days.
